Why do I call our photography -Facilitated Photojournalism?
A lot is said today about photojournalism. It's a style that has become very popular over the last 5 years or so and is a very misused term.
Basiclly a photojournalist is a hidden observer. The ultimate in candid photography. A photographer lurking in the shadows with a telephoto lens so as not to trigger any artificail response from the subject. And while this type of image can be VERY cool, it's also typically not helping capture the true and complete story.
Over the years, I've had so many brides come to book me for their wedding and say the don't want any posed images at all. Just informal or photojournistic images. But them after we photograph the wedding, all the pictures they like are the ones we set up!
It's true. People don't always know what they want, particularily when it comes to their wedding pictures. For that reason, we shoot three disticnt type of images on our weddings.

Let's define some terms
True Photojournalism
Most of our packages include at least two photographers. This is a great way for us to work as we can separate and work in different ways. While I may be doing some portraits with the families, the other photographer can be grabbing tue candid images of the guests just being themselves. You get the best of both worlds simultaniously!
Portraits
Weddings are a great time for families to get together. Often people have traveled across the country or around the world to attend a wedding. What a great time to get some Portraits with your entire family while you can. The great part is you don't sacrifice anything by doing this. With our other photographer grabbing PJ stuff, you get the best of both worlds in your finished photos.
Facilitated Photojournalism
This creates some of thebest images of all. While photojournalistic in approach, we create activites that photograph well. Often people aren't doing much of interest during a wedding. The guys are hanging around talking and while that may yeild a few good images, it's easy for us to take the wedding party guys and have them walk accorss the parking lot or down a walkway and shoot them that way. The resulting images are fantastic and well work the effort it took to set it up.
Facilitated photojournalism can be some of the most prised images of the day!
